The WCB's current rate model has been in place since 2001 and as such, the timing was appropriate to review its ongoing focus and relevancy to Manitoba employers.

Beginning in 2012 with an internal review of the WCB Rate Model, the WCB undertook a consultation process with stakeholders to identify ways to improve the WCB rate model to ensure that all employers are treated fairly and to prioritize injury prevention by rewarding employers for safe workplaces while addressing concerns about claims suppression.
