Policy Purpose

The Workers Compensation Act provides the WCB with broad discretionary authority to reconsider any matter it has dealt with and any decision it has made. This includes the ability to reconsider any decision that affects a worker, employer or other party at the request of the affected party, and to determine the process for doing so. This policy provides the framework for these types of internal reconsiderations, including the principles governing reconsiderations, the WCB bodies that conduct reconsiderations and the types of decisions they generally deal with, and the basic features of the reconsideration process.
