The Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba (WCB) maintains a reserve fund to protect employers and workers while ensuring a stable workers compensation system. This reserve fund is currently higher than the target set in our funding policy. As a result, in May of 2020, we are distributing surplus funds to employers, whose premiums fund the workers compensation system.
Trucking companies in Manitoba must provide WCB coverage for their workers. Trucking companies frequently operate across more than one province and on a contract basis, which means you must answer two important questions related to your status with the WCB of Manitoba:
Workers compensation coverage is available for everyone associated with a video production company. Production companies are required to purchase WCB coverage for all of their workers. Your contractors may have their own WCB coverage. If so, you must make sure they are in good standing with the WCB. Our online Clearances system allows you to look up contractors and request official confirmation of their WCB status.
You are required to provide workers compensation for farm and agricultural workers. Farm owners and their family members are not required to have WCB insurance; however, you can purchase optional coverage for yourself or family members who work on the farm.
