Speak Up.

If it’s unsafe, tell your employer.
Or voice your concerns at 204-957-SAFE.

Make workplace safety your first priority.

A split second is all it takes for an unsafe situation to turn into a serious injury. Speaking up about hazards protects you, your coworkers and the people who count on you every day.

It’s your right to say something if you feel at risk.

Understanding your rights as a worker.

In Manitoba, all workers have the right to a safe and healthy workplace. This includes:

  • The right to know about hazards.
  • The right to take part in safety and health programs.
  • The right to refuse dangerous work.
  • The right to be protected from reprisals when you speak up.

Remember, it’s against the law for anyone to punish you for reporting an injury, refusing dangerous work or making a WCB claim.

Every worker has a voice.

Raise safety concerns right away.

Whether you’re new to the workforce or a veteran worker, tell your employer about unsafe work immediately. You can contribute to a safer workplace by reporting all hazards, near misses or injuries, even if they seem minor.

Stay engaged in your safety.

Take part in safety meetings and training, follow safe work procedures and speak up if tasks or conditions don’t feel right. Use protective equipment properly and work with your supervisor or safety representative to resolve any safety issues before someone gets hurt.
