Industry-Based Safety Programs

Manitoba has many Industry-Based Safety Programs (IBSPs) that work in partnership with the WCB and our SAFE Work Manitoba division to help keep workers safe on the job.

IBSPs deliver injury prevention services to employers in specific industries. They work with employers to help improve safety and health at work by offering customized services to meet their industry’s unique safety needs. By providing an in-depth understanding and targeted strategies, IBSPs help support safe, productive workplaces.

These programs provide valuable services that make it easier for employers and employees to access safety and health information, resources and training tailored to the risks and hazards of their specific industry.

SAFE Work Certified

The SAFE Work Certified program is Manitoba’s safety and health certification standard. It helps make workplaces safer and provides a financial reward to employers who take proactive steps to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.

The SAFE Work Certified Program is overseen by SAFE Work Manitoba and is delivered through IBSPs. IBSPs have the responsibility to offer employers industry-based safety and health certification programs that meet the requirements of the SAFE Work Certified Program. IBSPs certify employers, monitor compliance with program requirements and serve as an employer’s main point of contact for all operational aspects related to safety and health certification.

By working with IBSPs, employers can reduce their individual and classification-wide injuries and resulting costs.
