2022 SAFE Work Awards Announced

November 2, 2022 (Winnipeg, MB) – Each year, SAFE Work Manitoba, a division of the Workers Compensation Board, presents a SAFE Work Award to a Manitoba worker, workplace safety and health committee, and workplace to recognize their commitment to health and safety. SAFE Work Manitoba is proud to announce the winners of the 2022 SAFE Work Awards are:

  • Worker SAFEty Award: Adam Groves (Nine Circles Community Health Centre) (watch his video) 
  • SAFEty and Health Committee Award: The Cronos Group Health and Safety Committee (watch their video)

A group of Manitoba high school students were also recognized for their video project that educates their peers about the importance of safety culture. Gabe Beso, Laura Carandang, Charizze Balaswit and Jeremy Legospi from Sisler High School won SAFE Work Manitoba’s Norm the Safety Contest: Make Safety the Norm! for their video Kitchen Safety.

The annual Safetys awards gala, which is co-hosted by Manitoba safety organizations and celebrates  Manitoba achievements in workplace safety and health, took place on November 2 at the Victoria Inn Hotel & Convention Centre. A welcome reception will begin at 5:30 p.m.

“I want to extend my thanks to all the award winners and nominees for their efforts to keep workplaces safe,” said Jamie Hall, Vice President of SAFE Work Manitoba. “It’s because of their efforts that employees are returning home to their families at the end of the day.”

SAFE Work Manitoba is a division of the WCB and is dedicated to the prevention of workplace injury and illness. Working with our partners in the safety community, we provide prevention education, safety programming, consulting and strategic direction to create a genuine culture of safety for all Manitobans.
