  • Processing, preparing and/or manufacturing of food products for sale to commercial clients such as restaurants, wholesale and retail establishments.

    Examples of products include:

    • eggs ( grading, candling)
    • noodles
    • edible oil
    • seeds, nuts
    • popcorn
    • coffee
    • potato chips
    • frozen pizza
    • frozen french fries
    • perogies
    • hors d’oeuvres
    • frozen vegetables
    • pickles
    • chocolate, candy
    • spices

    Packaging done by the manufacturer is considered incidental.

  • Malting is the process of converting reserve insoluble food material in the barley kernel into a soluble state that can be used readily by a brewer and distiller.
  • Processing meat (animal halves, quarters, etc.) are cut into smaller portions or specially processed (i.e., smoked, pickled or made into sausage). Normally sold on a wholesale basis.
  • Growing/production of mushrooms. Normally conducted indoors where temperature, light and humidity can be controlled.
