From May 6 - 12, North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week will take place with the theme of “Safety and Health: A Commitment for Life! Making it Work!”
Led by the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE), NAOSH Week focuses on the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace and raises understanding and awareness of safety and health issues.
WINNIPEG – Day of Mourning is a nationally-recognized day in memory of those who have died, experienced illness or been injured as a result of their work. This year Day of Mourning commemorates 18 Manitobans who died on the job in 2011 as well as 13 who died from occupational disease and were recognized as WCB fatalities in 2011.
WCB’s 2011 Annual Report Reveals Small Surplus and Stable Rates
(WINNIPEG) – The Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba (WCB) released its 2011 Annual Report today. It was highlighted by a small surplus and stable rates despite challenging financial times. The WCB also released its 2012–2016 Five Year Plan.
(WINNIPEG) – Each year, the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba (WCB) funds new projects to help keep Manitoba workers safe and recover from workplace injuries.
Today, the WCB announced the latest nine funding recipients of its Research and Workplace Innovation Program (RWIP). Among the projects receiving funding are injury prevention for new immigrants and healthcare workers. (See Appendix for complete list.)

On November 19, the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba (WCB) was announced as one of Manitoba's Top 25 Employers for 2012.
The WCB was chosen for this prestigious list based on an extensive entry that was submitted to Mediacorp Canada Inc. A blue-ribbon panel, comprised of HR academics from across Canada, judged each entry on the workplace programs and initiatives outlined in their submission.
(WINNIPEG) – The average WCB assessment rate in Manitoba will remain stable at $1.50 next year, despite an unpredictable investment environment.
Beginning on November 22, 2011, the WCB will be contacting a sampling of small, medium and large employers to hear their opinions about the WCB and receive feedback about their firm’s experiences with the WCB and their overall satisfaction with our services.
