Board of Directors, Governance and Executive Committee

The role of the Board of Directors is to approve and oversee the direction of the WCB. By statute, the Board of Directors consists of 10 members appointed by the Government of Manitoba from nominations submitted by labour, employers and the public. The Chief Executive Officer is a non-voting member of the Board of Directors.

The Executive Committee is responsible for providing leadership in the daily operations of the WCB.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Michael Werier - Chairperson
Michael Werier is a lawyer with extensive experience as an arbitrator/mediator and an expert in employment and labour law, health law and civil litigation.

Doug Sexsmith - President and CEO
Doug Sexsmith spent 20 years in public service in the Manitoba government and has held various senior positions with IBM Canada Ltd. in the private sector. He joined the WCB as CEO in December, 2001.

Robert (Bob) Dewar
Robert Dewar is Director of Operations for Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU).

Robert (Rob) Labossiere
Robert Labossiere is a fire fighter and Secretary to the Executive Board of the United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg.

Wendy Sol
Wendy Sol is Administrative Vice-President with the Communication, Energy and Paperworkers Union (CEP).

Paul Challoner
Paul Challoner is the Regional General Manager of EECOL Electric Ltd.

Ron Hambley
Ron Hambley is the Executive Vice President of the Winnipeg Construction Association.

Jane MacKay
Jane MacKay is the Director of  Human Resources and Labour Relations for Motor Coach Industries.

Public Interest Representatives

Carla Kematch
Carla Kematch is the Director, Capacity Building Initiatives for the United Way of Winnipeg.

Ken Sutherland
Ken Sutherland is a retired Chartered Accountant with extensive financial and business experience.

Ilana Warner
Ilana Warner is an infection control professional with the St. Boniface General Hospital.
